Realism and Quantum Mechanics

I'm a physicist, and also a Christian. That makes me really interested in the interplay between the science and religion. I was excited to find out that over on YouTube there's a popular channel talking about quantum mechanics (my area of expertise) and Christianity. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was short lived.

InspiringPhilosophy starts off by highlighting a real difficulty- the difficulty of squaring 'materialistic' views of the universe (by which he seems to mean classical mechanics which dominated physics over a century ago) with quantum mechanics. It's certainly true that many people don't seem to realize that quantum physics has overturned classical mechanics.

But then he goes wrong. Very wrong. In the next few posts, I'd like to explain why.
